“Uncle Edward, kuya has a delfrend.” sabi sa kanya ng tatlong taong gulang na si Cheska.
“I leave you two for three minutes and your kuya already has a girlfriend?” tanong niya rito habang tinatanaw ang sales girl na kausap ni Nikko.
Nakaluhod ang babae patalikod sa kanya habang pinapahiran ng tissue ang t-shirt ng limang taong gulang niyang pamangkin.
Tango lamang ang isinagot ni Cheska.
“Well that was fast.” Kinuha niya ang teddy bear mula rito at binuhat ito. “Come, let’s see if she’s pretty.”
“She is.” inosenteng sabi ni Cheska.
“Really?” He smiled. “I bet my little Cheska is prettier.”
The little girl giggled.
“Hello there, Nikko’s girlfriend.” sabi niya sa nakatalikod na babae. She was wearing a pink and white uniform with an ice cream shaped cap on her head.
Lumingon ito para tingnan kung sino ang nagsalita. Base sa nakatawang ekspresyon nito ay tiyak na may nasabi na namang kung ano si Nikko.
“I tod you she was pretty.” palihim na bulong sa kanya ni Cheska.
Tumango siya bilang pagsang-ayon..

Teka ains, bigyan kita ng description ni Edward.
Kapag naaalala niya ang araw na niyaya siya ni Edward magbakasyon sa resthouse nito sa Batangas ay hindi niya maiwasang mainis. Limang beses pa lamang silang nagkikita ng binata sa puntong iyon pero hindi man lang ito nagdalawang isip sa kanya.
Bakit nga ba hindi? Edward was tall, chiseled and godlike by anybody’s standard. Not to mention his obesed bank account. Hindi niya tuloy maintindihan kung bakit siya ang pinag-aaksayahan ng panahon ng binata gayong marami namang ibang babae sa mundo.

If, the line “sabi sa kanya ng tatlong taong gulang na si Cheska.” doesn’t give you a clue that this excerpt is for general patronage, then I give up.

hehe. i know nikko’s just a kid. but you know how kids are, they can become possessive of their “friends”. in fact they’re a possessive lot! i have two small ones whose past time is to pull me in two different directions. LOL.

my son, too, is so possessive of me. ayaw na ayaw niyang nakikitang magkatabi kami ng daddy niya o whatever. basta no contact! kapag nakita niya kami, pinapalao niya kaming dalawa. sabi niya “bad! bad!”
